Connect Lagos Traffic is committed to accurate, well-sourced, and independently verified reporting on Lagos transport and infrastructure. This policy explains how we research, source, verify, and correct our content.

How Articles Are Researched

Every article begins with a defined research question and is built from primary and credible secondary sources. Our research process draws on:

• Official data and publications from transport authorities, government agencies, and regulatory bodies
• Policy documents, budgets, and project reports released by relevant institutions
• Historical records and prior reporting to provide accurate context and background
• International benchmarks and comparative data from cities with comparable transport challenges
• On-the-ground observation and commuter experience, drawing on our editor's background in traffic journalism and public administration

Where data is incomplete, outdated, or unavailable, we state this clearly rather than filling gaps with assumption. We distinguish explicitly between verified fact, expert interpretation, informed analysis, and forward-looking expectation, so readers always know which is which.

How Sources Are Selected

We prioritise primary sources — government agencies, transport authorities, official statements, and original policy documents — over secondary reporting. When we cite statistics, we include the reporting year and attribute the originating source.

We consider a source credible when it is:

• Official or institutional, such as a government agency, regulator, or recognised transport authority
• Verifiable, meaning the underlying data or statement can be checked against a published record
• Current, reflecting the most recent available information at time of publication
• Transparent about its own limitations, rather than presenting projections or estimates as settled fact

Where expert opinions differ or evidence is contested, we represent that disagreement rather than presenting a single view as consensus.

How Financial Information Is Verified

Given the financial and investment dimensions of infrastructure reporting, financial figures — project costs, funding structures, currency values, and investment claims — are cross-checked against official budget documents, regulatory filings, or statements from the relevant funding body wherever possible.

All currency figures are stated with their denomination (₦, £, $) and, where relevant, converted with a clearly stated exchange rate and date. We do not present funding projections, cost estimates, or investment returns as guaranteed outcomes. Our editor's background as a certified accountant (ACCA, ANAN) informs our approach to reviewing financial claims for accuracy and plausibility before publication.

How Corrections Are Handled

We correct errors promptly and transparently. When a factual inaccuracy is identified — whether through reader feedback, editorial review, or updated official data — we:

1. Verify the correction against a credible source
2. Update the article as soon as practicable
3. Note the nature of the correction and the date it was made, for significant factual changes
